A ransomware attack affected the Hosted Exchange infrastructure at Rackspace.

Rackspace, one of the top US cloud computing providers, was impacted by this attack starting Friday December 02, 2022. All targeted accounts were moved to Microsoft 365 on an emergency basis, but most of these customers had no access to their emails for almost 2 business days. It is unclear of any emails were lost during this time, since the workaround provided by Rackspace involved emailing alternate addresses and forwarding emails to temporary locations.
Cybersecurity experts are recommending to all organizations to review their backup policies and their business recovery plans, to make sure all emails and related settings are protected in case of similar attacks.
